Accomodations

All guests stayed at Papendal National Sports Center, the headquarters of the Dutch Olympic Committee and the Dutch National Sports Federation. Papendal is close to the city of Arnhem, and is about one hour and fifteen minutes by train from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (and about one and a half hours from Cologne in Germany). A shuttlebus was provided from Arnhem Central Railway station to Papendal.

Papendal was founded in 1971 as a center where sports people could train. Now it is a fully equipped complex, covering 150 hectares in a beautiful setting, providing all the facilities we needed.

The hotel, restaurant, competition hall and other facilities are all within the same complex. Most meals were served there too. For our spare time there was a grand café available for the participants (with very reasonable prices and an occasional happy hour!), so there were plenty of opportunities to enjoy the social side of the competition too, with puzzles, sports and games.

All the rooms are double rooms. There are two types of rooms available:
• Standard rooms (shower, toilet and tv)
• Luxury rooms (shower, bath, toilet, telephone and tv)
