Our WPF member from Italy "Nonzero s.r.l." organised the 1st World Sudoku Championship (WSC1) in beautiful Lucca, Italy, on March 10-12, 2006, with the support of the World Puzzle Federation and APT Lucca. They did a splendid job: a smooth organisation, great accommodations and perfect puzzles.

Puzzlers from all around the world had the chance to challenge each other in different variations of "the game of the year 2005" for the title of the true Sudoku Master. The tournament was won by Jana Tylova, a 31-year-old Czech economist. For a report, full results and pictures, see the championship website
