It is my sad duty to inform you of the death of our dear friend Jacek Szczap, who organized and hosted the WPC in Paprotnia just a few months ago. He died of a stroke.

Jacek was a leader in puzzles both in Poland and abroad. He worked for Gazeta Wyborcza, the second-largest and most influential Polish daily newspaper, dealing with games, puzzles, contests, and promotional activities. He also ran his own company with these specialties, doing work for many many well-known brands and corporations.

In the WPF, Jacek was also long-time participant in the annual congress, offering clever ideas for promoting both puzzles in general and the federation. And some of the most ingenious puzzle concepts at the 2010 WPC, including the playoffs, were his.

We will miss him greatly.
