This month the puzzle world will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first published crossword puzzle. More details about this crossword puzzle and the puzzle itself can be found here: http://www.crosswordtournament.com/more/wynne.html
I would like to inform you about a very interesting event organised by the Hungarian team to celebrate this anniversary - Hungarian Crossword Puzzle Championship. The event will be held in Budapest on 21st December and more than 100 different crossword puzzles will be solved there.
Part of this event should be also a short presentation and small exhibition about the history of the crossword puzzles.
Please let me quote Gyorgy Istvan´s email addressed to all of you:
"I'd like to ask our friends from all over the word to give some information or nice stories from their country which could be worth to publish to the average people as well.
(E.g. everyone knows about the very first crossword, but how the second or the third was looks like? USA was the first, but in which country was the crossword published for the second time?)"
On this occasion would also be great if some of you would like to prepare a nice crossword puzzle that would be culture-independent and non-lexical and would remind this important puzzle milestone.
